It was so wonderful to see so much of our immediate family this past Christmas and New Year Season. Our hearts are indeed full and we find we have an extra jump in our step.
We are finding our way more in France. I can find the eggs and the baking soda much faster and some French is coming more naturally. I, Debbie am told my accent is really cute - interpretation - "It's so nice you are trying but we still don't understand you". French is such a precise language that almost right doesn't quite make it. C'est La vie.
We are still working through ministry strategies and which direction we should go with the work we were and are called to do. It seems to be changing on a daily basis. So what we have learned and are growing in;
Being flexible (even past 40, 50 or 60) is a good thing
Being flexible requires a certain amount of humility
Humility is a good thing at any age
God has not called us to a place where we are so pulled in all directions that we break.
One of my most cherished Bible verses is Matt: 11:28-29
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
I go back to this time and time again. If I were to "translate" this I would say;
When you are tired, worn out,
and are carrying the world on your shoulders
come to Me and I will bring you relief.
You will find peace and rest in my Presence.
I will show you how to find rest
when you partner with me,
because I can and do carry the weight of the world on My shoulders.
Learn gentleness and humility from me
and discover the rest and peace that awaits you.
Doesn't your soul just "sigh" when you read that?
Isn't there an of-loading of stress?
Do you feel a renewal of hope, and expectation of great things to come, a refocusing of your thoughts?
